Are politicians using the terrorist attacks to further agenda?

Are the politicians using the September 11th attacks with the media hype in combination with American citizen's trust in government to further agenda harmful to civil liberties? It is so clear the intention of the politicians that it becomes blatant in their bills and fine print. Obviously they spit on the Bill of Rights and walk all over our Constitution as if it were a rug. We should not allow government to eavesdrop on our phone conversations, read our email, monitor our Instant Messages, and surely follow us around the Internet for the sake of "National Security". You will hear a lot of politicians suggest these invasion of privacies, however they know that it is not necessary to do so unless there is enough suspicion for incrimination. Later along down the road they will use these techniques against our will and harm innocent citizens.

Did you say "temporarily" invoke these methods of spying? I guess these methods will be as "temporary" as the Income Tax or the Speed Limits that were so called temporary solutions for a crisis. Let's watch out what the government has in store for us in the near future and see how this will affect the freedom that makes America great as we move to a more socialistic state. We must prevent any more progess to the left and maintain our personal rights and indvidual freedoms.

Democratic Bill for Federalized Airport Security WINS...

Along the lines of the socialistic way of the American Democratic party, we are faced with the expansion of the Federal Government by paying for more federal employees out of our own hard earned money by taxes. Does this mean that the airport security will be safer now that these employees are now federal workers? Or is the federal bureaucracy going to employ people either unskilled or disgruntled with their own personal being? We have had such successes of other Federal divisions such as the INS and FBI...haven't we? This is an outrage... ...that must not be tolerated by the American people. The Republicans claim that federalization of airport security would inflate the government while maintaining the same level security or worse if the private sector picks up the slack. The Democrats, in this case, claim that ONLY federal employees will be able to increase the security of airports. Maybe we should tell them about the success of the FBI and how they have recently protected American lives by figuring out where the terrorists were AFTER the tragic day had unfolded. Or how about the inept Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) that continues to harm our country by allowing illegal aliens (I'm not talking about the ones from Outer Space) stay in the United States with expired visas. Are we not keeping tabs of these people...or is the LEFT letting them willingly plot terrorist actions against the citizens of America?

Anti-American Sentiments...

Here we are in the time of need and we ask all of our allies to join in the fight against Terrorism. Okay, we have this great coalition with NATO and other great countries. However, we should not let that get in the way of our objective. My prediction is that this so called coalition might fall apart as the war lengthens. Not to mention, we might even find some enemies in our former allies. When we first started the air raids on Afghanistan, the French stepped up and stated that they will provide some air forces if needed. Not to mention other countries that are willing to provide troops for our cause. How much trust can we put into these blank statements? Are these backed up with sincere commitments or false, void, and null promises. Here we have our confident President G.W. Bush going to China for additional support and what do they do? They create Anti-American Proproganda to distribute to their citizens. Let's keep an eye out on this coalition and see how long it will last.

Get US out of the UN...

I have written about this many times before...and I cannot help but stress this again. The United Nations (U.N.) is Anti-American and we should not have any association with that globalized political machine. The U.N. is a bunch of 3rd World dictators that want to have some leverage and say in the politics of the wealthy nations. On this note...the United States of America should not allow any intervention of the United Nations to create the new government for Afghanistan. After all, we are the ones that are winning the war, NOT the United Nations. It is the money, effort, and blood of the United States and its citizens...not some phoney Global Government that wants to infringe on America's sovreignty. How can we allow them to do such things? We can't...is the answer. I believe that we should hold an election and let the people of Afghanistan elect their own President and draft their constitution under the United States' supervision as we did for Japan after WWII. What do you think?

Return to Decency???

It seems as if people have more pride to be American and are showing some faith in our Government. However, is this true faith in our Government or Blind Faith? Are we allowing our government to do whatever it wants to do because of the crisis at hand? How can people now put so much trust in government? It is great that people are putting their faith in America... however they should not fully put their faith in the government. Remember this country is great because of our principles and citizens...NOT BECAUSE OF OUR GOVERNMENT. Government is NEVER perfect and we should constantly keeping an eye on it and constantly finding ways to improve it. Show your pride in America, but not for America's Government... Be wary of potential attacks of not only our citizens, but of our personal freedom and civil liberties. What do you think about our government???

Bandwagon Patriotism

Here we are in a time crisis and so many people are showing their pride in America. That is great, however, the American people should inherently have a sense of pride for this country that they live in and not just in times of tragedy. Here you have flag kits, car flag kits, flag pastry, flag underwear, flag this or that...and people are out there buying all of these items to show their pride. As I have said in the forum, the amount of patriotism is not directly proportional to the amount of flags you can display in a defined area. I have a lapel pin that I wear almost everyday...however this is just a decoration to my true red, white, and blue that runs through my veins. Now I see that the American people are getting tired of this patriotism. Watch out for a backlash soon...and it will be headed by the mainstream leftist liberals out there.
