All is Math...

Economics

If one could only understand the above statement our lives would be a better place to live. We would have so many more rational, logical thinkers that the world would be a safer, yet more intelligent place to live. You have to admit, those students that know mathematics are probably more brilliant than some English or Education majors. I'm not just saying that because I'm an Engineer, I'm saying it because it is true. It is ridiculous when I go up to a Wendy's and the lady behind the counter has to give me $0.91 in change and she gives me 9 dimes and 1 penny. What about using the other denominations? You may say that she may have ran out...well, what were all those quarters doing in the cash register? It is sad people...it is sad when the Liberals try to dumb down their own citizens in mathematics because it develops critical thinking skills and problem solving skills. At least they know what subject brews intelligence and independent thinking. One must understand that Math is universal. Sure you can have your Spanish, English, Chinese, Vietnamese, Cambodian, and French...but you can go everywhere around the world or the universe and 1+1=2. Unless you were learned in a constructivist mathematics school...then 1+1=5 (as long as you worked in a group to get the answer.) It is insane and we need to do something about dumbing down our children...especially in mathematics. Why do I care? It hurts me every time I see a high school senior that cannot find X for 2+X=10. Better yet, I talk to somebody in High School and their favorite class is Art or Drama. What about Calculus, Geometry, or Algebra for heaven's sake? Or at least one of the sciences. We consistently lower the bar and let more students that cannot read and write out of our school system, but hey...somebody has to cook the fries.
